A native of Milwaukee, WI, she was born in Chicago, IL. Lady Carswell is 2009 magna cum laude graduate of Lane College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She received a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. She completed her doctoral education at the University of Memphis, receiving a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the School of Public Health in 2016. Dr. Carswell is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
In 2014, First Lady Carswell met the Founder of Covenant Church, the late Bishop Quincy L. Carswell during a visit to Atlanta, GA and was introduced to Pastor Quincy L. Carswell, II shortly thereafter. In November 2017, Quincy L. Carswell II and Lady April were married. Together, they have two sons, Quincy III (Trey) and Wesley Elijah (Wes). Lady April is the Women’s Ministry Lead at The Covenant Church and actively involved with several other ministries.
First Lady Carswell believes in encouraging and challenging everyone God sends across her path. Her favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Lady Carswell enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, and reading.
